PILE (inflational pillar, crystalline cone auct.) - superposed lamellar thickenings (pustules) on lateral walls or folia in consecutive whorls or consecutive chamberlet layers, that produce an aspect of pillar-like structures in the sections of shells. Compare: interseptal pillars. See also blueprinting.
