NEANIC is a postnepionic growth stage with the architecture of an adult shell. May be either a synonym for the adult or ephebic growth stage or designate an early phase of the adult stage. Should be used only where there is a qualitative delimitation to later adult stages, for instance the transition from spiral to flabellar or from flabellar to annular growth.
