Foraminifera are therefore simulated as individuals (agents) defined by some parameters. These parameters represent “hypergenes” understood as sets of genes and their expressions responsible for morphology, physiology, and behaviour of organisms. The eVolutus simulator is based on a new generation of morphogenetic [[MODELS|models]] that simulate architecture of foraminiferal shells (tests). Every individual is dependent on energy, therefore, a simple metabolic pathway is implemented. Foraminifers react to food particles distributed in time and space. A shortage of food induces movement of individuals. Growth and maturity of individuals depend directly on food availability. Foraminifera are simulated in their habitat defined by additional parameters set by the experimentator. All adult individuals undergo classical reproduction procedures that mimic sexual and asexual reproduction modes with recombinations and mutations of (hyper)genetic information. Therefore, hypergenes and associated individuals can evolve generation by generation and adapt to environmental conditions. We used two approaches to implement the model: Framsticks artificial life approach ([http://www.framsticks.com http://www.framsticks.com]) developed in Poznań University of Technology and AgE distributed platform developed in AGH-University of Science and Technology ([https://age.agh.edu.pl/agent-oriented-platforms/age https://age.agh.edu.pl/agent-oriented-platforms/age]). == Resources: == Framsticks platform: [http://www.framsticks.com/foraminifera Framsticks] eVolutus with AgE platform: [ https://evolutus.icsr.agh.edu.pl eVolutus]
